This is your chance to set up your own blog, wiki, aggregator etc etc. These sessions will be small groups and in 45 minutes Anne or Carol will step you through setting up your own..... At the end of the session you will have an operational site/online tool. (No more talking about it - it will be done & you can start using it!!)

The world of online collaboration for learning is evolving rapidly with social software (or Web2.0) providing new and exciting ways of developing ideas and educational opportunities.

Anne Bartlett-Bragg (University of Technology, Sydney), will show us how to extend our scope in using the web in order to facilitate learning and address these important questions:

What are people doing with these new tools, and how is this affecting learning practices?
What do learning & development practitioners need to do to start bringing these tools into their own practices?
How does this all affect learning design?

Many online collaboration tools are free. Carol Daunt Skyring (LearnTel) will follow Anne’s session with an overview of the free online tools that are available for use for education & training. This will be a ‘helicopter’ view of the following tools:

There is currently an explosion in the number of online 3D virtual worlds. This development could even be heralding the next evolution of the Internet - the 3D web. In this session we will address the following:

What are online 3D virtual worlds?
How are educators using these 3D environments for online education?
Why do educators need to pay attention to online 3D virtual worlds?
We will focus on Second Life, one of the more popular and flexible online 3D virtual worlds.

About the Presenter
Sean FitzGerald is an independent researcher, consultant, trainer and presenter with a passion for emerging technologies and their impact upon society. He has been involved in projects exploring the use of Web 2.0 tools - such as blogs, wikis and podcasting - in education and supporting educators experimenting with these tools and accompanying learning models. His current research focuses on online 3D virtual worlds.

Sean has worked mainly within the VTE sector, especially TAFENSW, and has worked on many projects funded by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework. Read more about Sean
